The Panthers put out their Week 3 depth chart on September 22, ahead of Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns. If you’re comparing it to the Week 2 version, here’s the short answer.
What changed?
Nothing. The Week 3 depth chart is identical to the Week 2 chart — no changes at any position.
That includes the return game, where John Metchie III remains listed as the primary returner on both punts and kickoffs.
Why no changes, given the roster moves this week?
The team did make moves elsewhere this week — signing Ihmir Smith-Marsette to the practice squad on September 23, and elevating safety Isaiah Simmons and linebacker Jeremiah Moon from the practice squad to the active roster for a second straight week. None of that affected the depth chart’s listed order of players.
It’s also worth noting coach Dave Canales’ comment that it would be hard to move Jalen Coker out of the punt return role after his performance in Week 2 — a signal that some adjustment could be under discussion, even though it hasn’t shown up on the depth chart itself yet.
What to watch for
Depth charts can still shift during the week through additional signings or practice squad elevations before Sunday. If you want the full breakdown by position, the Panthers’ own release is the source to check.
