What should runners and spectators do to plan around road closures and detours for the 2026 Twin Cities Marathon?
The 2026 Twin Cities Marathon is scheduled for Sunday, with races across the weekend. Runners and spectators were specifically advised to plan for road closures and detours in Minneapolis and St. Paul.
What to do before heading out
Carpool if possible, arrive early, and pay attention to road closures and detours. Those are the planning points confirmed in the report.
Because more than 30,000 people signed up for the weekend races, travel around the event may take longer than usual. The report does not list exact closure streets or times, so do not rely on a normal route without checking first.
Practical planning checklist
- Build in extra arrival time.
- Use carpooling if it fits your group.
- Watch for detours in both Minneapolis and St. Paul.
- Recheck event or local traffic information before leaving.
What is not confirmed here
The available context does not provide a full road-closure map, street-by-street detour list, or parking instructions. For those details, check the latest official event or local transportation update before race-day travel.
