When does Black Panther 3 come out in theaters?
Marvel fans tracking Black Panther 3 now have a firm date to put on the calendar, along with some fresh signs the production is moving forward.
The release date
Black Panther 3 is scheduled to open in theaters on December 15, 2028. Ryan Coogler, who wrote and directed the first two films, is again writing and directing this installment.
What’s happening ahead of that date
There’s still more than two years between now and the release, but the film already has real movement behind it:
- David Jonsson (The Long Walk, Alien: Romulus) was revealed to be playing the new Black Panther less than two months ago, and on September 19 he posted Instagram images and video of his physical training for the role.
- Denzel Washington has joined the cast in a role that hasn’t been disclosed yet.
- Letitia Wright, Lupita Nyong’o, and Winston Duke are all confirmed to return.
Jonsson touched on the role briefly at Comic Con in July but said he wants the finished film to speak for itself rather than detailing the part further.
Worth keeping in mind
📅 A theatrical date set this far out can still shift as production develops — it’s worth checking Marvel’s own announcements closer to 2028 rather than treating December 15 as locked in stone this early.
