Red Lion Controls N-Tron 700 Series – Trending Issues Daily

How can operators check whether a Red Lion Controls N-Tron 700 Series device is affected by the CISA advisory?

The first check is version-based. CISA’s advisory lists affected Red Lion Controls N-Tron 700 Series products by firmware and bootloader version.

Check these two version fields

A device is in the affected range if it is a 700 Series product running:

Component	Affected version range
Firmware	at or below `Firmware_3.11.0`
Bootloader	at or below `Bootloader_2.0.6.1`

If either value is at or below the version CISA listed, treat the device as covered by the advisory until you confirm otherwise from the official advisory or vendor guidance.

Why the version check matters

CISA associates seven vulnerabilities with the 700 Series and gives the advisory a CVSS v3 score of 8.3. The advisory says exploitation could allow a malicious user to reach the device with administrative access. With that access, the user could view, change, and upload configuration files.

CISA also says a malicious user could cause device reboots by visiting a specific URL, and that behavior could be scripted for repeated rebooting.

What to verify next

The available context confirms the affected version ranges and the general risks. It does not include update instructions, replacement guidance, or a vendor remediation procedure. Check CISA’s advisory page for the latest official details before making changes to production equipment.

What should administrators do if an N-Tron 700 Series device is running firmware at or below Firmware_3.11.0 or bootloader at or below Bootloader_2.0.6.1?

If an N-Tron 700 Series device is running firmware at or below `Firmware_3.11.0` or bootloader at or below `Bootloader_2.0.6.1`, CISA’s advisory places it in the affected product range.

The immediate practical step

Confirm the device’s firmware and bootloader values, then compare them against the affected ranges CISA listed:

Firmware at or below `Firmware_3.11.0`
Bootloader at or below `Bootloader_2.0.6.1`

If the device matches either range, use the CISA advisory as the official reference point for next steps. The supplied context does not include a patch instruction, configuration workaround, or vendor-specific procedure.

What risk the advisory describes

CISA says exploitation could let a malicious user reach the device with administrative access. From there, the user could view, modify, and upload configuration files.

The advisory also describes a reboot issue: a malicious user could trigger device reboots by visiting a specific URL, and that action could be scripted to repeat.

What not to assume

Do not assume from the available context that every affected device has the same exposure in every environment. The context confirms affected versions and possible impacts, but it does not describe network placement, compensating controls, update availability, or operational procedures.

Because advisory details can change, check the current CISA page before deciding how to handle a live device.

What changes could an attacker make after gaining administrative access to a Red Lion Controls N-Tron 700 Series device?

CISA’s advisory describes the main configuration risk plainly: if a malicious user gets administrative access to a Red Lion Controls N-Tron 700 Series device, that user could work with the device’s configuration files.

What changes are confirmed

The available context says administrative access could allow a malicious user to:

view configuration files
change configuration files
upload configuration files

Those are the confirmed file-level actions described in the advisory context.

What else the advisory says could happen

CISA also says a malicious user could trigger device reboots by visiting a specific URL. The same reboot behavior could be scripted so it happens repeatedly.

That is separate from the configuration-file access issue, but it is part of the same advisory context for the 700 Series.

What the context does not say

The supplied material does not identify specific configuration fields, operational settings, or device behaviors that would be changed. It also does not provide a remediation process in the text supplied here.

For operational decisions, use the official CISA advisory and check whether it has been updated since publication.
