Why did Barcelona SC prepare in Guayaquil instead of Quito before facing LDU Quito?
Barcelona SC prepared in Guayaquil instead of Quito because coach Pablo Trobbiani believed traveling to the capital would hurt the team’s preparation.
The direct answer
Trobbiani said the staff considered training in Quito, but he felt going there would have worked against the team’s preparation.
His explanation centered on two points:
- Adapting to altitude is difficult.
- Barcelona SC wanted to keep its training rhythm.
