![[gunner stockton]: Stephen A. Smith’s Gunner Stockton and Keelon Russell Comparison](https://trendingissue.blog/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/pexels-9268733.jpg)
What did Stephen A. Smith say about Gunner Stockton compared with Keelon Russell?
Stephen A. Smith compared Gunner Stockton and Keelon Russell before Georgia’s game at Alabama, and his main point was simple: he liked what Stockton had done, but he still preferred Russell.
What Smith said about the comparison
Smith said Gunner Stockton had been efficient and good. But when comparing him with Alabama quarterback Keelon Russell, Smith said Russell was his pick.
That does not mean the available context says Smith dismissed Stockton entirely. The confirmed point is more specific: Smith acknowledged Stockton’s efficiency, then said he favored Russell in the comparison.
How Louis Riddick responded
Louis Riddick pushed back on Smith’s view. Riddick said he trusted Stockton, Georgia, and Kirby Smart.
Riddick also said he had broadcast games involving both teams, and that those experiences shaped his firm view of Stockton and Georgia.
What to take from it
The exchange was a quarterback comparison before Georgia-Alabama: Smith leaned toward Keelon Russell, while Riddick defended Gunner Stockton and Georgia. For the latest comments or any follow-up from the broadcast crew, check the original reporting.
