![[donald trump approval by state]: SEC 2026 Cross-Trading Proposal: What Registered Funds Should Know](https://trendingissue.blog/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/pexels-7103204.jpg)
What changes would the SEC’s 2026 cross-trading proposal make for registered funds and affiliates?
The supplied SEC context is not about polling or Donald Trump approval by state. It is about a 2026 SEC proposal involving cross-trading rules under the Investment Company Act.
What would change
The SEC proposal would expand and update rules for certain securities transactions between registered funds and affiliates.
Based on the supplied context, the proposal is aimed at cross trades involving registered funds. The SEC framed the changes as a way to reduce trading costs while also adding investor protection measures.
Who the proposal concerns
The context specifically mentions:
- registered funds
- affiliates
- certain securities transactions between them
- the Investment Company Act cross-trading rule
It does not provide the full legal text, implementation timeline, comment deadline, or a list of every affected fund type.
What to be careful about
This is described as a proposal, not a final rule. The Federal Register source listed in the materials only shows an access-limit notice about automated scraping and CAPTCHA verification, so it does not add usable details here.
For the current official wording, check the SEC source directly.
How could the proposed SEC cross-trading amendments reduce trading costs for registered funds?
The confirmed SEC context says the proposed cross-trading amendments are meant partly to reduce trading costs for registered funds.
How the cost reduction would work
The basic idea is that appropriate cross trades may let registered funds avoid some open-market trading costs.
SEC Chairman Paul S. Atkins said appropriate cross trades can help registered funds avoid costs tied to open-market trading. The supplied context does not give a dollar amount, percentage estimate, or formula for how much funds could save.
What else the SEC says is part of the proposal
The SEC also framed the proposal as adding investor protection measures. So the cost point is only one part of the proposal as described in the supplied context.
Confirmed elements include:
- a 2026 SEC proposal
- the Investment Company Act cross-trading rule
- expanded and updated rules for certain transactions
- registered funds and affiliates
- a cost-reduction rationale
- investor protection measures
What is not confirmed here
The provided context does not say that the amendments are final. It also does not provide operational instructions for funds or investors. Because proposals can change, use the SEC release for the latest official wording.
