How did Charlie Becker’s role in Indiana’s offense start changing around the UCLA game?
Charlie Becker’s offensive role at Indiana appears to have started from a limited place, then expanded as the season moved toward the UCLA game.
What changed around the UCLA game?
The confirmed change is that Becker’s offensive involvement began increasing around the UCLA game. Before that point, First Round Mock described his role in the passing game as limited: five targets and four catches across Indiana’s first seven games of the 2025 season.
That does not mean he was absent from the team plan. The same context says Becker had already been contributing in other ways, especially on special teams and as a blocker.
What his early role looked like
Based on the available reporting, Becker’s early value was less about volume as a receiver and more about doing work outside the main passing-game spotlight.
The practical version:
- He was an Indiana Hoosiers wide receiver wearing No. 80 in the source material.
- His receiving usage was limited over the first seven games.
- He contributed more on special teams and blocking before his offensive role grew.
- His offensive involvement began increasing around the UCLA game.
What is not confirmed
The available context does not give a specific snap count, target count for the UCLA game, or a full game-by-game breakdown of Becker’s role. For those details, readers should check the latest team notes or updated reporting.
Where did Jordan Reid rank Charlie Becker among 2027 NFL Draft prospects?
Jordan Reid’s updated 2027 NFL Draft prospect list gave Charlie Becker a prominent spot.
The ranking
Sports Illustrated reports that ESPN analyst Jordan Reid ranked Becker:
| Category | Ranking |
|---|---|
| Overall 2027 NFL Draft prospects | No. 8 |
| Wide receivers | No. 2 |
That puts Becker near the top of the listed 2027 prospect group in the reporting cited here.
Why Indiana is part of the draft conversation
Sports Illustrated also described Becker as one piece of an Indiana trio drawing NFL attention, along with Nick Marsh and Carter Smith.
The available context does not give the full ranking list, scouting grades, or detailed player comparisons. It only confirms Reid’s placement of Becker at No. 8 overall and No. 2 at wide receiver.
What to check next
Draft rankings can move as new games, workouts, and evaluations come in. For the latest version of Reid’s list or any updated prospect order, check the current ESPN or Sports Illustrated reporting.
